Bengaluru

Just for knowledge (old news thou') ... Now the Bang-A-Lore is going traditional by becoming old lil' Bengaluru, if its not possible by growth then by name only... Bengaluru

About my views..I dont understand whats the need for it. Just for the cause of having some story attached to city, or to provide a local accent to the city name, renaming it is definitly a stupidity, considering the fact that Bangalore is now a global name and so easy to pronounce. Its a kind of attaching a local langauage accent to the name just for sake of ego satisfaction. If it keeps on going like this then the only thing now left would be to rename Delhi to Dilli or Indranagri.

This is so confusing. I wish all the name changing would stop --- I just can't keep up with it :))

Besides, Banglore is just easier to pronounce.

I didn't know you were from Banglore!! One of my good friends is from Banglore, in fact she's leaving this weekend and going to be gone for two months.

I never got to visit my last trip, but hubby says it's the one place in India he would like to live.

oh yes, bangalore is called as "city of gardens" in india. U can find thousands of small and big gardens here and lots of birdie-pairs around. The only problem could be traffic jams. Moreover people are very nice n tolerant comparable to north side.

I don't think I've ever been anywhere in India without a traffice jam!! But, I guess that's a westerners take on traffic jams.

LOL, even on our way from Bodi to Munnar (in the mountains of Kerela) we ran into traffic jam after jam. Partially because of the blasting of the mountain to make a new road...

My husband worked for Infosys in Bangalore for a while, he really liked it there.. But I have not been there..

Name Changes of anytype is confusing for me.... I wonder what the actualy cost of this is.. I mean people changing business cards, brochures its a worldwide change.. iam curious of the cost involved...

Nishu Sir'..you know its like searching your roots, its a sort of nationalism which sometimes is required (in this case I have no idea if req.).....however having names like Albert Cross or Lutyen's city.....i will prefer Indranagri...sounds ridiculous in age of globilization but this is one way of nationalism!

@d: yes, buddy, even i'll prefer dilli (not indranagri/inderpuri..so old) so if others have no objection...make it in a hindi tinge (as all ppl are doing it)...Dilliiii... and ya, i want new delhi to be christened as nayi dilli.

    it sounds weird?? naah??
    i doubt!!
There will be huge protest across the country!!

What these ppl get by making calcutta as KolKotta(i heard thay want to rename it again as kolikatta, now thats too much) that bengali accent, u know na!!

    Then, on that this

    bengaluru(Ban Ga Lore),

sounds like some toddler is pronouncing it but thats local kannada accent,

then that poona to pune, bombay to mumbai, madras to cheenai... hey do u know trivendra is now tirivantapuram and so on...

aaahhh...haaaaaa... weird locals, just abolish these local political parties and everything will be alright. Sorry for this outburst but if u come to bangalore u'll know what regionalism is, forhget about Nationalism... i m feeling this heat here!!
